La fotografía generativa es una técnica consistente en proyectar imágenes sobre una pantalla, a cierto número de fotogramas por segundo, que se fotografían a continuación con una cámara, usando larga exposición, para producir un resultado final con efectos visuales.

En el blog de Ishac Bertran hay unas cuantas imágenes y explicaciones más detalladas; también hay un álbum de Flickr completo con los resultados de los experimentos.

Check out this absolutely stunning timelapse video from Quebec-based photographer Dominic Boudreault. I highly recommend that you guys put the vimeo player in full screen mode before hitting the play button.

I shot this timelapse montage from late 2010 through early 2011. One year in the making.

My goal was to show the duality between city and nature.

PaperPhone is the world's first nextgen, thin film smartphone and interactive paper computer. It is based on a 3.7″ flexible electrophoretic (E Ink) display that does not consume electricity when it is not refreshed. Thinfilm sensors allow the phone to respond to bending of the screen to navigate pages in ebooks, play or pause mp3s, make phone calls, or navigate apps. A flexible wacom tablet allows users to draw on the screen with a pen as if it were a sheet of paper.

Es una especie de combinación entre paintball y teléfonos móviles, organizado por la gente de QR-Planet.

I was doing some research about mental health and I came across a list of mental disorders. I chose a few, starting with OCD, and set myself the challenge of defining each in a minimal style.

The OCD graphic is definitely the best one of the bunch. Others include agoraphobia, anorexia nervosa, and depression.

DisplayCabinet is a clever use of a projected display and RFID tags to take data away from the computer screen an into the physical world.

The aim of our project was to tackle turning data into information that's easy to digest and act upon. We set out to avoid screens that draw focus and create a prototype "calm" projected display for the data created by, for and about the people, products and services that can be found in and around the home.

By default a small ring is shown, and when an RFID-labeled object is placed in the center the display changes accordingly. Drop a set of house keys on DisplayCabinet, and you see information about your house such as the temperature and whether Mr. Cuddles the household pet is out or not.

Similarly, when you put the fridge ornament in the center of the circle, you see the temperature and if you're out of milk. Or put your wallet and get information about your finances.

See DisplayCabinet in action below. While just a prototype produced during a 24-hour hack session, it's easy to see the potential.

And in even more medical sensor news, researchers at the University of Illinois have developed a low-cost method of detecting bacterial infection using an artificial nose. To sniff out the particular strain of bacterium, a broad-sensitivity array is attached to the underside of a Petri dish lid and a sample of the patient's blood is swabbed onto a standard agar medium. The 36 points of cross-reactive pigment  change color when they detect specific chemicals–the by-products of bacterial growth.

Each detectable strain carries its own pattern on the array, which is read by running the cultured plates on a flatbed scanner.

By "sniffing out" the invading microbes, this process would cut standard blood culturing process from around 72 hours to three or so, and costs far less in terms of both resource and labor while also providing a much-needed improvement in diagnostic turn-around. The technology is currently being tested for accuracy in detecting lung cancer and sinus infection using breath analysis.
