Instalando QuantomGis QGis en ubuntu 12.04
Me precio de contar con algo de experiencia en al gestión de información geográfica en web desde hace tiempo. me encantan las posibilidades técnicas que los mapas de zoom variable y automáticos tienen. Y he encontrado que para muchos el camino ha sido al contrario, pasar de mapas de zoom fijo a mapas en la web.
en fin, como muchas veces, estoy otra vez dando el camino del punto B al punto A, lo que hace interesante el recorrido.
El punto es que así como para entender como se producen documentos en papel como los que salian de las maquinas de escribir se require conocer un software procesador de palabras, como writer o msword; para entender el mundo de los mapas y la cartografia se requiere contar con el software adecuado.
Cuando uno se mueve en el mundo privativo la parada es comandada por ArcGIS, de Esri. Excelente herramienta para cumplir con esa tarea. De hecho de las pocas trabas que presenta es la forma com ose comparten los datos y por supuesto el precio.
La alternativa libre que conozco es QGis, que me fue presentada curiosamente por uno de los miembros de la autoridad geográfica del país.
Es una herramienta que de verdad es poderosa, y sabiéndolo hacer, permite realizar una enorme cantidad de tareas, generando mapas finales realmente buenos, aunque por supuesto, mis amigos profesionales en el área siempre tienen comentarios sobre esta o aquella característica que si se encuentra en la otra herramienta.
tuve un problema que supe que a otros les sucedió, y es que al intentar instalar Qgis en ubuntu 12.04 los paquetes presentaban inconvenientes.
Gracias a uno de los foros de OSGeo ( http://osgeo-org.1560.n6.nabble.com/QGis-on-Ubuntu-12-04-td4967969.html ) encontré el aporte de Pedro Venancio para resolver ese impasse.
En resumen
1. acicionar los repositorios a las fuentes APT
#sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list
2. Adiconar los key
#gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 1F9ADD375CA44993 089EBE08314DF160
#gpg --export --armor 1F9ADD375CA44993 089EBE08314DF160 | sudo apt-key add -
3. actualizar las fuentes
# sudo apt-get update
4. Instalar
#sudo apt-get install qgis grass
Y listo
para ejecutar,
#qgis
Se instala la version Lyon (las versiones tienen nombres de ciudades, y la mas reciente es lisboa)
Se puede conocer mas del proyecto en http://www.qgis.org/
Existen versiones para windows, gnu/linux e incluso una app para android http://hub.qgis.org/projects/android-qgis.

En Infectonator: World Dominator hay que hacer el papel de la plaga, comportarse como todo un maluto e infectar a la gente para propagar enfermedades, muerte y destrucción, primero en pequeñas zonas y finalmente por todas las regiones del mundo. Nunca infectar y convertir a la gente en zombies fue tran entretenido.

Several folks wanted to know how we made our family portrait. First thing's first. We hired Aaron Nace of Phlearn. He's a total badass and super fun to work with.
Secondly, and more importantly, to address the few gullible folks up front that asked "is that real!!??" — Of course not! Our 1yr old is definitely starting to climb things, but not to the level where he is scaling buildings. The people that have asked this certainly don't have children of their own.
Finally, this photo explains it all. We are not magic... at least so you think ;)
